Mapian is a map-based social network that allows you to connect to the people, community and events in your immediate area through your smartphone. By mapping out social information geographically, Mapian adds a sense of intimacy and connection to users’ immediate environment. Mapian is about being globally local and having situation awareness. Our target market is Ontario university students between the ages of 18-24 as they are the most tech-savvy community. As per the Ontario Council of University Libraries, there are about 450,000 undergraduate students in just Ontario alone, with the highest concentration of students within the Greater Toronto Area. Mapian’s Facebook page has 2,600+ followers and its Twitter account has 960+ followers. We have also made partnerships with student organizations, associations and activists; all of whom want to promote Mapian among its members. We expect to sign-up 5,000+ members within the first two weeks of launching.
